In the fiscal year 2019-2020, the contribution of the livestock sector to the GDP at fixed prices is 1.43% and the growth rate is 3.04% (Bangladesh Economic Survey-2021). The contribution of livestock sector to the total agricultural GDP is 13.44%. About 20% of the population is directly and 50% indirectly dependent on the livestock sector. The contribution of the Livestock Department in the economic development of the agriculturally dependent Boda Upazila is immense. The Livestock Department and Veterinary Hospital in this upazila are playing an important role in conservation, disease control and breed development including increasing the production of cattle, poultry and milk to meet the demand for animal meat. As a result of effective measures taken by the Upazila Livestock Department, the production of milk, meat and eggs, the main source of animal meat, has increased to 175.83 ml / day, 126.20 g / day and 104.23 / year, respectively, which is the animal of the growing population of the country. It plays an important role in meeting the demand for meat. In the context of transition from Bangladesh LDC to a middle income country and to meet the growing demand of animal meat (milk, eggs and meat), Boda Upazila has made unimaginable progress in conservation, expansion and breed development of existing livestock to increase production and productivity.
